In the last decade, architecture has undergone the influence of eco-sustainability for a world that is increasingly green lifestyle and dedicated to respect for the environment. New architectural trends have arisen, which represent green building, to obtain houses that have recycling and energy saving systems.

The best architectural firms have created magnificent state-of-the-art houses that are absolutely eco-friendly, while at the same time satisfying the desire for luxury and comfort of the richest.

Today we show you one of the most beautiful eco-friendly houses in the world: Caterpillar House.

Caterpillalr House created for an art collector, located on the outskirts of Santiago in Chile. Designed by Sebastián Irarrázaval with an area of 350 square meters, it used for its construction 12 recycled containers, previously dedicated to ship transport.

The containers are perfectly integrated into the landscape of the Andes, are covered with sheet metal and thanks to the polyurethane panels the building is thermally insulated.

The house is cooled through a passive cooling system, using the cold air of the Andes avoiding the need for an air conditioning system.

Sebastián Irarrázaval designed the house by inserting large  windows and skylights to achieve the best energy savings due to the consumption of artificial light.
The surface of the house is divided into a living area on the first floor, a sleeping area inside the containers and the outdoor space hosts a magnificent Olympic swimming pool.

Caterpillar House with its three-dimensionality and its color has become an integrated part of the Chilean landscape that hosts it, this ambitious project is one of the best building achievements that is born, lives and feeds in nature.
